在这部光逝剧情/惊悚片中,莱克（尼古拉斯·凯奇 Nicolas Cage 饰）是中情局的老牌特工，最近，他疑似患上了老年痴呆症，因此被上司责令退休。就在这个节骨眼上，莱克的徒弟米尔顿（安东·叶利钦 Anton Yelchin 饰）意外发现穷凶极恶的恐怖分子巴尼尔（亚历山大·卡里姆 Alexander Karim 饰），同时亦是莱克与其斗争了一辈子的死对头，并没有像坊间传闻的那样已经死去，正相反，邪恶的他蠢蠢欲动，准备大干一票。
